Support Local Students Going to the UW!

Remember that first freshman week on campus, trying to register for your classes, trying not to be homesick, and most of all, trying to make new friends to help you get through that first semester at the UW?

You can help local freshmen entering the UW survive that first year with a few less worries by giving to the UW Alumni Club of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Scholarship Fund.  All funds collected, up to $8,000, will be matched by the UW Foundation, with all proceeds going to deserving local freshman students attending UW-Madison.

The Club, through the generous donations of its members, has been able to increase the amount of its scholarship awards on an annual basis.  In 2006, four awards of $2,500 each were made to outstanding incoming UW freshmen from Glastonbury, Madison and Shelton, CT and Shutesbury, MA.

If you would like to support this worthy cause, you can Donate online.

If you are an incoming freshman that has been accepted by the UW, you will be contacted via e-mail by the Scholarship Committee in early summer prior to your freshman year, based on information provided directly by the UW to the scholarship committee.  All incoming freshman are encouraged to apply.  Scholarship amounts will vary on a yearly basis, depending on the number of awards and the available funds.

Matching Funds

With the generous contributions of club members and matching funds from the University of Wisconsin Foundation, we are able to offer scholarships to incoming freshman from the Connecticut/Western Massachusetts area.
If you would like to help local students discover the educational opportunities offered by your Alma Mater through a contribution to our scholarship fund or if you would like more information on applying for a scholarship, please contact Mitzi Oppenheim at mitzioppenheim@gmail.com.
