UW vs Purdue Posted: 28 October 2009 | UW vs Iowa The Badgers have had a week off to reflect on their 20-10 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes. In a disappointing Homecoming game that saw the Badgers start off with a 10-0 lead, an untimely substitution at quarterback that seemed to impact momentum, followed by three second-half interceptions for Tozien, an injury to John Clay and a missed field goal combined to result in no additional points for the Badgers. While the outcome of the last game was not favorable, the accolades continue to roll in for Wisconsin senior defensive end O’Brien Schofield. Already named second-team midseason All-American by college football expert Phil Steele, Schofield has also been named to the CBSSports.com 2009 Midseason All-America Second Team. The teams were voted on by experts from CBSSports.com. UW vs Purdue This Saturday, the Badgers (5-2, 2-2) take on the Purdue Boilermakers (3-5, 2-2) in Camp Randall. The game begins at noon and will be shown on ESPN2. The Boilermakers will be looking for their third straight victory, after wins against OSU and Illinois. Purdue has not won three consecutive games since the opening of the 2007 season. Purdue’s quarterback Joey Elliott ranks second in the Big Ten in average passing yardage and total offense and is 15th nationally in total offense . Other Purdue players to watch include running back Ralph Bolden, third in the Big Ten in rushing average and wide receiver Keith Smith, first in the Big Ten in receptions per game. For the Badgers, the team won’t have the help of their leading tackler, Mike Taylor, who is out for the season with a knee injury (torn ACL). If the Badgers win this one, they will become bowl eligible. Halloween The Boilermakers will be visiting Madison on one of the craziest nights of the year there – Halloween. It is reported that popular costumes this year will include the H1N1 flu virus, sexy nurses and Twilight vampires. This year’s Freak Fest will feature alternative rockers Third Eye Blind.
